Exploring Devon on the way to Dartmouth

James and I haven’t really taken any holidays this year, with Mum going through Chemotherapy and our self build project, we’ve not really wanted to be anywhere else but home or plan too far in advance incase we needed to be elsewhere. We’ve taken to booking more spontaneous trips over long weekends instead with one of our most recent being a lovely few days down in Devon. I had booked us into a spa hotel for one night in Dartmouth but James decided we should extend our trip so booked up a Bed and Breakfast in Torquay for the night before. We headed off on the Saturday morning from Bristol,…

    Holidaying on a boat

Last month James and I went away to Falmouth for a long weekend with some friends. We had been talking about going away together for months and finally got something pretty special booked up. We scoured the internet before stumbling upon a spot just on the outskirts of Falmouth town centre. What made it so special you ask? Well, it was in fact a boat. A boat with all the necessities: the top floor was all open plan with a big kitchen, dining area, and a large lounging space with lots of glass to enjoy the views. It gave the impression that you could almost walk out onto the outdoor…

    Things to do in Barcelona

With last year’s British Summer being a bit of washout, James and I decided we needed some sun and booked a short trip to Barcelona. I had been to Barcelona a few years ago and loved it, whereas it was the first time for James but I knew it was just what we needed. If you’re decidedly fed-up with Winter and in need of some spring getaway inspiration, hopefully this blog post can help. Barcelona is a fun city that has everything; beautiful weather, amazing architecture with interesting history, a great food scene and all within a stone’s throw from the beach. Living in this city locals must lead a…

    Watergate Bay Hotel

Last weekend was James’ birthday; he’s a tricky one to buy for so I decided to take him away for a couple of days. When I first started my current job nearly three years ago, an old work friend told me about this great hotel right on the beach, with amazing food and an indulgent spa all within walking distance of your hotel room. Ever since I have wanted to visit but haven’t found a good enough reason. So, if I can’t spoil James with pressies, I’ll spoil him with a two night stay at Watergate Bay Hotel. Just over two and a half hours away from Bristol, on the…

Roadtripping in Croatia: Split and Hvar

I have wanted to go to Croatia for some time now. My brother raved about it when he returned from his European travels and I’d heard of the stunning landscapes from many others who had holidayed there. I put the idea to James as a potential summer holiday. He had already been to parts of it but was more than happy to make the trip again – that’s got to be a good sign! We decided to visit Split, Zadar and Dubrovnik with three days in each. Bristol Airport has flights direct to Split so we began our trip there. We arrived at our Apartment around 6pm, enough time to…
