    The Mint Room, Bristol

Have you ever been jealous of your tastebuds? I discovered that it is entirely possible when James and I went along to The Mint Room in Clifton. Our lucky tastebuds went on a culinary journey through India, via the Tour of India tasting menu. I have never been to India but I feel like I’ve been treated to a little taster via the chefs at The Mint Room and the staff that explain each dish, showing off the various styles of cooking and the flavours that vary from region to region. Before we began our tour, we needed to hydrate. Naturally we opted for cocktails, the best way to quench…

    Sholay Indian Kitchen, Bristol

The other night we watched a program about our nations love of curry. Turns out we can’t get enough of the blooming stuff. Although we were pretty disappointed to hear that the favourites apparently include chicken tikka masala and the korma! In our opinion, perhaps the blandest of the two and the least authentic. Each to their own but James and I like our curries with a bit more pizazz and a lot more heat. We were recently invited along to Sholay Kitchen, one of the shipping containers at Wapping Wharf, to sample their new menu and enjoy some of their staple dishes. The menu is short and sweet, with…

Takeaway you don’t need to feel guilty about!

We eat out a fair bit. What can we say- it’s something we enjoy! Sometimes though, after a hard or long day, you can’t beat a takeaway can you?! No getting ready to go out, no travelling, no food preparation or cooking, and minimal tidying up; it’s win, win, win, win! As if that wasn’t enough, how about a couple more for luck? What about adding, doing something positive for the world to that list. Well the good people at Kukd.com have done just that! You go on to their website and, like many others, you simply put in your postcode and are presented with the takeaway options near you.…

    A classy curry

Steph and I recently had a week off, and rather than explore a new and exotic city as we normally do when the opportunity presents itself, this time we decided to stay at home and enjoy some of the wonderful places and activities closer to home (read the full account here). It also gave us the chance to try some of the local restaurants we’ve been meaning to for a while. One of those restaurants is the Mint Rooms which specialises in Indian cuisine with style! There’s one in Bath, and one a convenient 20 minute walk from home, situated between Clifton Village and the Triangle. The restaurant feels classy,…

    Curry Corner, Cheltenham

You may be wondering how I’m keeping up with my new year’s resolution of eating well with all these trips to restaurants and pubs. There has to be a happy medium you see, to stick to the one resolution of blogging more it means I have to make sacrifices to another resolution of eating healthier. I am still attempting to eat less and gym more, so far so good although I did cave to a pack of Minstrels last night. At least I’m not doing as bad as Alan. Being a chocoholic he¬†committed himself to a year without chocolate. Last night he helped me finished my Minstrels, ending his pledge…

    Bhoomi, Cheltenham

Today must be one of the most depressing days of the year, the day the majority of us go back to work. We’ve enjoyed spending time with friends and family, eating and drinking probably too much and watching copious amounts of television. One of the many fond memories I have of my Christmas break was when Alan and I visited Bhoomi in Cheltenham, a relatively new Indian restaurant in town. My sister and I spent one morning last week going through the top restaurants in Cheltenham on TripAdvisor. We may be judged for having¬†too much time on our hands, but if we hadn’t have looked we wouldn’t have discovered a…
