A Festive Day Spa at Cowley Manor

The Christmas countdown is now in full swing with less than two weeks until the big day.

I don’t know about you but I am very much ready for a break. My last long break in the midst of summer seems like a lifetime ago.

That sunshine glow is long gone, I’m now in need of something else to get my skin looking healthy and rejuvenated.

How about a Spa Day you say? What an ingenius idea!

Cowley Manor, just on the outskirts of Cheltenham, are currently offering a Festive Day Spa throughout December. This includes a 60-minute facial of your choice, a 2-course lunch or dinner from the Christmas menu, access to all the facilities at the C-Side Spa and a little treat to take away with you.

What better way to escape from the Christmas chaos for a few hours, unwind and get you feeling revitalised for all the festivities.

When we arrived we were guided around to the Spa, which is detached from the main house but is only a stone’s throw away. The building is in keeping with the property yet has been modernised.

It’s a cross between something that would feature on Grand Designs and a James Bond antagonist’s lair. Very cool. There are two pools, one inside and one out, both heated to 28 degrees.

There is a steam room, sauna and if you’re feeling particular energetic, a gym. The staff are all very welcoming and happy to help should you need it.

The surroundings are clean, modern but not clinical, and very cosy. With the evenings starting to feel that little bit colder, stepping into the reception was like a giant hug.

I took a dip in the pool and enjoyed absorbing the heat in both the sauna and steam room before heading to my treatment.

I’ve never had a facial before but it’s definitely something I’d like to treat myself to more often now. My face has probably taken quite a battering over the years from sun damage, forgetting to take my make-up off and not always following a strict daily routine.

I had the Green & Spring facial that is designed to repair and rejuvenate. Pores are opened with a special machine, the skin is exfoliated which removes the dead skin cells and brightens the face. The mix of hot applications and cold creams is super relaxing, it’s almost sending me to sleep thinking about it again.

The facial finishes with an antioxidant face mask that helps heal, nourish and repair the skin bringing back that summer time glow.

After a quick spruce up, we were taken back to the house and given a table in the Malt Restaurant.

With the Festive Spa Day package you can choose two courses from the expansive menu.

I went steak, James went pizza and we tucked into some foccacia bread whilst we waited.

The food was fab – my steak was moist, seasoned to perfection and tender. Just what you want from a steak. The chips were so crispy, I was bound to lose some to James. Unfortunately we polished off our plates so didn’t save any room for a pud! Lesson learnt for next time.

My time at C-Side Spa and Cowley Manor was so tranquilising, the ideal place to unwind. The facials have you feeling brighter on the inside, which will radiate on the outside.

The house looks lovely and Christmassy too, so head on down there soon whilst the decs are still up and make the most of the Festive Day Spa.
