    The Coconut Tree, Gloucester Road

I first heard about The Coconut Tree from a friend who lived on the doorstep of the original Cheltenham establishment, from her Instagram feed I could tell she went probably far more often than she cared to admit. I’m a bit hopeless and have yet to visit the Cheltenham one but have since checked out the Bristol one on Gloucester Road. I was told by someone at work, who also raved about it, that I’d need to book ahead so I got us a table for one evening after work. This place is obviously doing something right if a lot of it’s growth is based on word-of-mouth. The food is inspired…

    I’m fondue of you

James and I don’t venture to North Street enough, it’s only a short walk from us and has a great selection of places to eat. We have managed to try out most of the establishments but there was one I had my eye on for a while. Every time we passed The Malago, I’d say to James, we need to try this one. I’m not going to lie it was mainly the ‘buy two mains and get a free bottle of wine’ that initially had me interested but after a little more homework we discovered they also do Cheese Fondue Mondays. We booked ourselves a table pronto. I’d never had…

    The Mint Room, Bristol

Have you ever been jealous of your tastebuds? I discovered that it is entirely possible when James and I went along to The Mint Room in Clifton. Our lucky tastebuds went on a culinary journey through India, via the Tour of India tasting menu. I have never been to India but I feel like I’ve been treated to a little taster via the chefs at The Mint Room and the staff that explain each dish, showing off the various styles of cooking and the flavours that vary from region to region. Before we began our tour, we needed to hydrate. Naturally we opted for cocktails, the best way to quench…

    An Honest review

Another burger restaurant? Does Bristol need another burger restaurant? The kind of questions that don’t even justify an answer. But if you pushed for one, it would be yes. Always yes. How is it not a wonderful thing that you don’t have to walk very far to find a great burger in Bristol? We have options all over the city and the centre has just been graced with a chain from London. Chains can get a bad rep but Honest Burger have managed to avoid any of that by simply making really, really good burgers. They started off in London with several restaurants across the city, and also Cambridge, Reading…

    The Cauldron, Bristol

I have recently started a new job. A new job that brings me back to the centre of Bristol after two years of commuting out to Avonmouth. I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to be out of that job. On a daily basis I had to question why I wasn’t working in the city centre when we lived smack-bang in the middle. There were many reasons for leaving other than just the location but I won’t bore you with those details for now. James and I now work 5 minutes from each other, we can meet up for lunch and if James isn’t on dog-duty, walk to…

    The Bath Pig

James and I successfully passed our Marriage interview towards the end of last year, meaning we can now officially get married at Bristol Registry Office. Whoop! We’re doing things a little differently to some in that we’re doing the signing of the papers and the legal stuff a few days before our actual wedding. We decided it would be nice to keep the whole day at one location, save our guests having to move around and giving us complete freedom for the main event. We’d still like to celebrate the legal bit so have decided to visit The Pig in Bath. We’ve frequented the restaurant a few times now and…

New Autumn Menu at Prithvi, Cheltenham.

Having wanted to visit Prithvi for ages, I almost jumped for joy when James and I received an invitation to try out their new Autumn Menu. Often recognised as the best restaurant in Cheltenham, with it’s reputation reaching far further afield, Prithvi has gained huge praise for it’s sophisticated dining experience, regarding both the food and service. Having only been open since 2012 it wasn’t long before the five star reviews came flooding in, marking Prithvi as the number one place to eat in Cheltenham on TripAdvisor. Which is no mean feat considering how many people regard themselves as food critics these days. Food bloggers are entirely different I might…

    Babel, Cheltenham

Cheltenham’s Brewery just got sexy with it’s newest addition Babel, a new cocktail bar with an interior to lust after for days. I received an invitation to their opening night a few weeks ago and think I may have found my new favourite jaunt in Cheltenham. It offers a little bit of everything; with brunch served on the weekends between 9-4, a full all-day menu consisting of light bites, ‘clean and lean’ options and all your favourites like burgers with varied fillings. The cocktail menu is extensive so you will need a few trips to Babel to sample them all. On arrival with my sister in tow, we were greeted…

    Italian restaurant with a view

Last year our neighbour told us about a lovely Italian restaurant down in Clevedon. You may be wondering why we would travel all the way to Clevedon to enjoy Italian food when we have an abundance of such restaurants on our doorstep. Well, what Bristol City Centre is missing, is a cracking seaview. The restaurant in question was Il Giardino. A family run business that’s been going for over 25 years, so they must be doing something right. We visited back in the Summer, you know, about three weeks ago when we had our very short-lived British Summer. It was almost too hot to sit outside however there was a light…

Hotel Du Vin’s new Summer menu

I’ve lost count of the times James has had to tell me it’s pronounced ‘van’ not ‘vin’. I’ve been saying it wrong for so long now, my brain just can’t accept it. I’ll get there eventually but in the mean time if I start harping on to you about how great the food at Hotel Du Van is, I’m sure you’ll understand what I mean. So last week James and I went along to a blogger’s evening at Hotel Du Vin in Cheltenham to sample their new menu, along with some cocktails and a tour around the hotel. It was also a great chance to catch up with other local…
