    Homemade Christmas wreath

Soooo last week James and I may have put our Christmas tree up. We had a mixed reaction when I shared this information to the masses on social media, some have judged, others have praised. Perhaps premature however I am determined to get in the festive spirit early this year. I say this most years and fail miserably, but it’s my first Christmas with James, a child at heart just like me so it’s bound to be a lot of fun. I also love food that comes in pastry parcels and they are always flowing at Christmas. Right, so the tree is up – check. Next we need a wreath…

    Vegetarian inspired baking with HomeSense

Once upon a time before Quorn mince, substitute veggie chicken and tofu there was Sosmix. A popular meat alternative for vegetarians that could be used to make up sausages, burgers, pies etc. Since then it has slowly gone out of fashion and is increasingly difficult to get your hands on. Which I discovered to be a true tradegy after James and I made up some spectacular sausages rolls with the stuff. With this I got to use some of my new HomeSense baking buys that helped along the way. The store has a whole host of equipment for all your baking and cooking needs. Frequently I’ll find something I didn’t know I…

    Carluccio's has arrived in Cheltenham

And what a way to arrive with an amazing launch party to really get the buzz going. Be prepared for a picture heavy post. Having been open a few days before the launch, we’d already heard good things so with mum in tow, we were looking forward to seeing what all the fuss was about. We arrived bang on time with the place already full of people and offered a glass of either prosecco or an aperol spritz. Situated in the Regent Arcade, with an entrance off the street taking you straight into the restaurant and another inside the arcade, leading you into the Deli – ideal for lunchtime shoppers. The…

All you need is love, and a cat

My blog is essentially an online diary where I can share the fun things I get up to – the holidays, the days out, the nice food. All a snap shot of my life that help break up the everyday routine. I tend to keep my blog quite lighthearted and carefree but if I’m going to share significant parts of my life then they can’t all come with the happy endings. One of the most treasured things in my life was my cat. It almost seems ridiculous how attached we get to our pets, but at the same time when they’ve been a part of your life for such a…

    Archery anyone?

Random, I hear you say. Perhaps. But I have my reasons. I still remember my early school years well. Playing duck-duck-goose or British bulldog (when it was allowed), spin the bottle and making my first ever boyfriend cry because I broke things off. Tough life lessons back then. Although shy I also remember getting told off a couple of times for silly things like when a friend and I ‘borrowed’ all the rubbers from everyone’s tables and kept them to ourselves. Or the time my friends fluffy hair scrunchie began to molt during reading time, which I obviously found hilarious so got sent to the back of the classroom. We…

Lunching in Bourton on the Water

Commuting into Bristol everyday for work can be a bit of a slog. More recently I’ve been asking myself is it time to pack up my things, smuggle the cat beneath my coat and move there. However I would miss being at the heart of the Cotswolds, with towns like Bourton, Stow and Broadway all being on the doorstep. They are all so traditional that you feel as though you’re taking a step back in time and removing yourself from the modern world for at least an afternoon. My mum grew up in Stow on the Wold so we have visited there frequently and it never seems to change. The day…

    My kind of birthday

So I turned 26 years old on the 26th January. I finally reached the age where I match my date of birth, not a particularly exciting reference considering I am now closer to 30 than I am 20. I’ll try not to linger on that thought for much longer as it’s a little depressing, especially as I’m now no longer considered a ‘Young person’ according to Network rail. Even if in my head I still feel like a 16 year old I managed to enjoy a very civilised and grown up birthday. In the morning I was treated to breakfast in bed, in the form of homemade pancakes along with…

    The Colesbourne Inn, Cheltenham

Who doesn’t enjoy a good old fashioned pub lunch? Especially when that involves good food, log fires, humble surroundings and an outting with the family. Back in December, for Dad’s birthday we went to The Colesbourne Inn, just outside of Cheltenham. It was on one of those crisp and cold days we had around Christmas, we fully welcomed the warmth of log fires when we arrived. We were seated in our own section of the pub with our own log fire giving me the opportunity to snap away more than usual. We all opted for a starter, going for a variety of different things meaning we can all try a bit…

    Hello 2015

As we drift into the start of a new year, it’s hard not to reflect on our fellow 2014. There wasn’t a single event that defined 2014 however I feel thankful that it was a healthy, happy and busy one. Alan and I began planning our wedding, we did quite a bit of travelling, visiting cities such as Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona and Madrid. Alan bought tickets to tour around Buckingham Palace, my blog started to get more recognition, and I took some photography courses, one leading to helping on a professional photoshoot. 2015 looks to be an even better year, mainly because it is the year I am marrying Alan. Wedding…

    HomeSense Cheltenham: Now Open!

Congratulations to Tinkerbellloz on winning £50 to spend in HomeSense. Enjoy your guilt-free splurge! In the 2nd of my series of blog posts for HomeSense, I went down to the new Cheltenham store to see what it had to offer. I loved the funky chair with the various pattern pieces. Would make a great statement piece in any home. My sister and I tested it out and it was surprisingly comfy. The different themes inside got my mind racing about how I would decorate my home. In my head my ideas all look great, but what if that’s not the case when I put paint to paintbrush. Look out for…
