    Feeling crafty

When was the last time you properly unwound? With the stresses of work and daily life it’s hard isn’t it? For us we normally switch off by having a meal out, enjoying good food and drink. We were recently reminded though that there is another way; by doing something creative and learning new skills we completely immersed ourselves and lost hours in a design (and slightly Prosecco) fuelled blur. We went along to a taster session for a craft event coming to Bowood House and gardens in June. We started with a drink (or two), and a bit of cake; got to feed those creative energies right! Our first class…

    Book review: Farfetch Curates Design

Farfetch have only gone and brought out another beaut of a book; Farfetch Curates Design. They’ve moved on from food and are now focusing on Design. This second installment still retains it’s passion for fashion but in inline with the world of home and architectural design. For someone who loves watching shows like Grand Designs and uses Pinterest on a daily basis, this is a great book to pick up and gather inspiration from. The book is divided up into different countries, giving us a sneak peak into what is trending all over the world including Berlin, Canada, Norway and plenty more. As with their last book (Farfetch Curates Food), the photography is…

    Book review: Farfetch Curates Food

If I had to pick the top four things I was passionate about I’d go with food, travel, fashion and photography. Luckily for me the people at Farfetch have gone and published a book that encompasses all of this. The idea behind Farfetch Curates Food is to give an insight into what is happening in the world of food and drink right now, taking us on a journey and exploring places like New York, London, Singapore and Sydney. Yet still retaining that fashion viewpoint by talking to Farfetch boutique owners as well as local chefs. The book is split up into different meal times with sections from food and fashion bloggers, including recipes,…

    A guide to blogging

I’m no expert blogger and sometimes I’m not a very good blogger, leaving it weeks between posts. I hate when that happens but often life gets in the way or I’m just not doing anything exciting enough to share! I never tire of it though, I love posting about what I’ve been up to, where I’ve been or just rambling on – even if no one is listening. It’s a great little hobby, that has lots of benefits and I think everyone should have a blog. The lovely people at Farfetch sent me a gorgeous infographic full of tips and tricks of how to take your blog to the next level.…

New store in Cheltenham preview and competition

Earlier in the year there had been a large chunk of shops missing from Cheltenham’s Gallagher Retail Park and an intriguing amount of building work. That building work has now been revealed and marks the opening of a new homeware store called HomeSense, and I have been lucky enough to be given a sneak peak. It’s all very exciting! HomeSense launched in the UK in 2008 and prides itself on offering high quality, branded homeware for less than the recommended retail price. I love shopping for home trinkets and getting inspiration from what I see in-store, if it comes at a bargain price without compromising on the quality – I’m straight there! And that…

    Photography

I got an SLR camera for my 21st Birthday and to be honest I didn’t use it much until I started blogging. I touched on Digital Photography at University however we focused more on being creative rather than the functions on the camera. With any camera, be it a Compact, Bridge or SLR there are numerous buttons and options at your finger tips to allow you to take the best photograph possible. Since I take numerous photographs for my blog, it’s turned into a bit of a hobby. Alan has just recently decided to pursue a career in Sports Photography, we’re at a similar level with knowing how to take…

Easter Weekend featuring Banksy, Horses and GridIron Cheltenham

This post is slightly behind schedule due to my Mac not behaving and refusing to recognise my camera. Talk about first world problems, eh. All is well now having used the classic turn off and turn back on again technique. I love Easter, it’s almost as good as Christmas. You get free days off from work and you don’t necessarily have to do anything, except eat chocolate. It is now a week later and I am onto my 5th easter egg. A little disgusted in myself but at the same time a little proud. Good Friday helped make room for the chocolate when myself, Alan and my sister went for…

I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells

This weekend started extra early on Friday as work had a ‘social event’ on so we all finished at 3pm. I unfortunately couldn’t make it, but I wasn’t too disappointed as Alan and I were off to Birmingham to see Miranda Hart’s stand up show. I love the woman, I feel I can sometimes relate to her awkward, immature and tall self. I love her show (aptly named) Miranda and really enjoyed her book. Her ‘What I Call Live Show’ did not disappoint either. Alan and I were laughing throughout, and could relate to the funny situations she gets herself into. On Saturday, my sister and I went to my new…

    Wedding decorations

I’ve just finished reading a book my mum bought me when I got engaged, it’s called ‘The modern girl’s guide to getting hitched’. The book takes you from dealing with never being able to pull men again right up to the big day and speaks honestly about all things weddings. What I didn’t agree with was how once planning gets rolling, your life becomes your wedding and when once it’s over you’ll wonder what you talked about before. However, since finding and booking our venue, I haven’t stopped thinking, dreaming, talking about our nuptials. I have become that person. I would say I’m going to try and change, but I’m…

    Adobe Love

I love Adobe Creative Suite. Some of my favourites are Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Dreamweaver. Oh and Bridge. I love Graphic Design and one day hope to call myself a Graphic Designer. I’m currently running on CS5 but hoping to upgrade to CS6 eventually. For those who don’t know what these programs do, here is a simple low-down: Photoshop: Editing Images. You can seriously do anything to an image with this program. That’s why one day I may find a spot on the end of my nose the size of England and then it seems to have disappeared by the time I upload pictures to my blog… InDesign: This is great…
