    Ceres Coffee, Stokes Croft

There are so many foodie places I want to visit on Gloucester Road in Bristol but rarely find the time to get up there. We live near the SS Great Britain and are surrounded by great bars and restaurants so often opt for something closer to home. Sometimes though, when you hear of a place that sounds truly special, there are no excuses. The place in question was Ceres Coffee. They have been open for a while, offering some great brunch and lunch dishes that are a huge hit with the locals but have only recently begun a dinner service. They have been quite open and honest on social media…

    Roadtripping in Denmark

For those of you that don’t know, James and I are getting married at the end of May and the planning/preparing/stressing is in full force. Time is always running away from us but when you have an impending wedding that you’re planning and doing almost every detail yourselves, you wish you could put the brakes on and turn the speedometer down a notch. As I don’t have a scar on my forehead or wear a pair of round framed glasses, I won’t be performing any spells to rewind time. Anyway, I digress. So with little time to plan our wedding, James and I decided to take a trip to Denmark.…

Takeaway you don’t need to feel guilty about!

We eat out a fair bit. What can we say- it’s something we enjoy! Sometimes though, after a hard or long day, you can’t beat a takeaway can you?! No getting ready to go out, no travelling, no food preparation or cooking, and minimal tidying up; it’s win, win, win, win! As if that wasn’t enough, how about a couple more for luck? What about adding, doing something positive for the world to that list. Well the good people at Kukd.com have done just that! You go on to their website and, like many others, you simply put in your postcode and are presented with the takeaway options near you.…

    Things to do in Barcelona

With last year’s British Summer being a bit of washout, James and I decided we needed some sun and booked a short trip to Barcelona. I had been to Barcelona a few years ago and loved it, whereas it was the first time for James but I knew it was just what we needed. If you’re decidedly fed-up with Winter and in need of some spring getaway inspiration, hopefully this blog post can help. Barcelona is a fun city that has everything; beautiful weather, amazing architecture with interesting history, a great food scene and all within a stone’s throw from the beach. Living in this city locals must lead a…

    The Bath Pig

James and I successfully passed our Marriage interview towards the end of last year, meaning we can now officially get married at Bristol Registry Office. Whoop! We’re doing things a little differently to some in that we’re doing the signing of the papers and the legal stuff a few days before our actual wedding. We decided it would be nice to keep the whole day at one location, save our guests having to move around and giving us complete freedom for the main event. We’d still like to celebrate the legal bit so have decided to visit The Pig in Bath. We’ve frequented the restaurant a few times now and…

    Our top Bristol Burgers

It wasn’t long ago that a burger seemed so simple, a bit of beef or chicken, lettuce leaves sandwiched between a bun. Perhaps with a dollop of ketchup. Fast forward to now and burgers have become a bit of an expert field. You can tell the difference between a good and bad burger, and it’s surprisingly easy to get wrong. There are so many things to consider, right down to the choice of bun. Bristol is churning out burgers like there’s no tomorrow. You are never more than 10ft away from a burger joint.* *not an actual fact, I’m just emphasising the burger craze at the moment. The great thing…

New Autumn Menu at Prithvi, Cheltenham.

Having wanted to visit Prithvi for ages, I almost jumped for joy when James and I received an invitation to try out their new Autumn Menu. Often recognised as the best restaurant in Cheltenham, with it’s reputation reaching far further afield, Prithvi has gained huge praise for it’s sophisticated dining experience, regarding both the food and service. Having only been open since 2012 it wasn’t long before the five star reviews came flooding in, marking Prithvi as the number one place to eat in Cheltenham on TripAdvisor. Which is no mean feat considering how many people regard themselves as food critics these days. Food bloggers are entirely different I might…

Testing out the Olympus Pen E-PL8

I love blogging. The community of the areas I try to cover, both Bristol and the Cotswolds is great. I’ve yet to notice any competitiveness or bragging between bloggers. I guess it’s because we’re all quite similar people in that we either love food, taking photographs of food or writing about experiences we have eating food. It’s a wonderful connection that brings a group of people that are essentially strangers, together. One of my blogging highlights of the year was about a month ago now when James and I were invited by Clifton Cameras to an event they were hosting, sponsored by Olympus. The event was a Bloggers Brunch, involving…

Through the Looking Glass with Wild Beer, Jessop’s House

Jessop’s House celebrated it’s second birthday a few weeks ago and I was lucky enough to be invited along to join in with the festivities. From the elaborate and beautifully designed invitation I received I knew this was a party not to be missed! I turned up not really knowing what to expect and was completely blown away with the transformation that had taken place in the basement of Jessop’s House. Our journey began just at the entrance before being guided downstairs and handed a bottle of ‘potion’, shrinking us down and allowing us to enter Wonderland. Whilst sipping on the small bottle of what was in fact a bitter…

    Babel, Cheltenham

Cheltenham’s Brewery just got sexy with it’s newest addition Babel, a new cocktail bar with an interior to lust after for days. I received an invitation to their opening night a few weeks ago and think I may have found my new favourite jaunt in Cheltenham. It offers a little bit of everything; with brunch served on the weekends between 9-4, a full all-day menu consisting of light bites, ‘clean and lean’ options and all your favourites like burgers with varied fillings. The cocktail menu is extensive so you will need a few trips to Babel to sample them all. On arrival with my sister in tow, we were greeted…
