    Our Wedding Suppliers

A DIY wedding is both a great big annoyance and the most wonderful way to plan your big day. The annoying part is not really knowing what you are doing and worrying on a daily basis that your guests won’t enjoy the fact you’ve gone off piste and planned a traditional wedding. But for us the positives outweighed the negatives and we decided to go all in, taking the elements from what we liked about weddings and tie that into what was essentially going to be a great, big party. We were able to have full reign on when things happened, what caterers we chose, the booze we ordered, where…

    We got married!

It’s been nearly a month since James and I got married and I’ve finally adjusted to life without planning a wedding. We took the whole planning thing very relaxed right up until the last week so I didn’t think I’d miss it so much, but it’s strange not having this big event to work towards. I guess I’ve been suffering slightly from post-wedding blues but we’ve recently been sent our wedding photographs and have been able to enjoy the day all over again. It’s true what they say about the whole thing going by so quickly and the pressure you put upon yourself to make sure you’ve spoken to everyone.…

Takeaway you don’t need to feel guilty about!

We eat out a fair bit. What can we say- it’s something we enjoy! Sometimes though, after a hard or long day, you can’t beat a takeaway can you?! No getting ready to go out, no travelling, no food preparation or cooking, and minimal tidying up; it’s win, win, win, win! As if that wasn’t enough, how about a couple more for luck? What about adding, doing something positive for the world to that list. Well the good people at Kukd.com have done just that! You go on to their website and, like many others, you simply put in your postcode and are presented with the takeaway options near you.…

These boots were made for walking

You don’t get much for free these days do you? A smile or a piece of advice if you’re lucky; both wonderful things, but unlikely to keep you entertained for the day. Thankfully there is still one great way to spend a day which is completely free, and as Winter retreats and Spring starts to ease towards us, it becomes even more enjoyable. A good walk is a sure-fire way of dusting off the cobwebs and getting some good fresh air deep into your lungs. We’re spoilt for choice around Bristol: Within an easy walk of the city centre there’s the wonderful Ashton Court and Leigh Woods, both great places…

    What a waste

You won’t get a lot of political opinion on this blog; that’s not really what it’s for, and neither Steph nor I are particularly preachy at the best of times, unless we’ve found a great new restaurant we want to share. But here’s a tragedy, which unless you live in the country, you probably won’t be aware of. Last weekend we visited my dad at his non-working farm in Wales. He might dispute it being ‘non-working’, because he works very hard to keep the place the wonderful sanctuary it is. But in the traditional sense, it is non-working, because it produces no crops or livestock. The farm next door however…

    They mean business!

A couple of years ago I had a break from my usual line of work. Normally I manage digital projects, which is a terrible line of work for someone whose mind doesn’t rest as there’s always some detail or extra consideration which occurs to you just as you’re trying to get to sleep, or worse still- wakes you up at 4am! I didn’t stop working, but I did do something completely different, and as they say- a change is as good as a break. I went to work with a small team at a media agency in Bristol. This team were unlike any I’d worked with before; some of the…

Give your hair the 5-star treatment at Stuart Holmes, Cheltenham.

Stuart Holmes salon in Cheltenham is one of the town’s treasures. It is one of those places I feel completely confident in recommending to someone, even if that does mean it becomes increasingly popular. I was lucky enough to be invited along to their Black Friday Bloggers week and having already visited Stuart Holmes, there was no way I was turning that invitation down. Located in the town centre, opposite the town hall, the salon is in a prime location. Glistening in the late afternoon sun, helped along by their Christmas decorations, I entered the building along their red carpet already feeling a little bit glamorous. I checked in at…

New Autumn Menu at Prithvi, Cheltenham.

Having wanted to visit Prithvi for ages, I almost jumped for joy when James and I received an invitation to try out their new Autumn Menu. Often recognised as the best restaurant in Cheltenham, with it’s reputation reaching far further afield, Prithvi has gained huge praise for it’s sophisticated dining experience, regarding both the food and service. Having only been open since 2012 it wasn’t long before the five star reviews came flooding in, marking Prithvi as the number one place to eat in Cheltenham on TripAdvisor. Which is no mean feat considering how many people regard themselves as food critics these days. Food bloggers are entirely different I might…

Testing out the Olympus Pen E-PL8

I love blogging. The community of the areas I try to cover, both Bristol and the Cotswolds is great. I’ve yet to notice any competitiveness or bragging between bloggers. I guess it’s because we’re all quite similar people in that we either love food, taking photographs of food or writing about experiences we have eating food. It’s a wonderful connection that brings a group of people that are essentially strangers, together. One of my blogging highlights of the year was about a month ago now when James and I were invited by Clifton Cameras to an event they were hosting, sponsored by Olympus. The event was a Bloggers Brunch, involving…

Through the Looking Glass with Wild Beer, Jessop’s House

Jessop’s House celebrated it’s second birthday a few weeks ago and I was lucky enough to be invited along to join in with the festivities. From the elaborate and beautifully designed invitation I received I knew this was a party not to be missed! I turned up not really knowing what to expect and was completely blown away with the transformation that had taken place in the basement of Jessop’s House. Our journey began just at the entrance before being guided downstairs and handed a bottle of ‘potion’, shrinking us down and allowing us to enter Wonderland. Whilst sipping on the small bottle of what was in fact a bitter…
