There are always new restaurants for James and I to try out in Bristol but sometimes you just want to go somewhere you know is good. Polpo on Whiteladies Road is one of those.
Specialising in Venetian food, they have a varied menu that’s not too overwhelming but has a little bit of everything. Perfect for groups as there is something for everyone. You’ll find pizzas, meatballs, pasta, steak, salads and small plates called cicheti. Like the Italian version of Tapas.
Whenever we visit we order up several dishes to start and then if we need anymore, get another order in. The dishes come out of the kitchen when they’re ready so there is always a steady flow of plates appearing at your table.
On our most recent visit they had introduced a cocktail menu. If there is one thing we like more than food, it’s cocktails so we were very pleased to see this.
There is also a small selection of puddings to end your night on, including a sweet pizza. However if they’re not tempting your tastebuds there are always more cocktails to sample. With the low lighting, candle-lit tables, you’ll want to settle in and stay for the entire evening.
