Towards the end of last year, Koj opened as a pop-up restaurant in the centre of Cheltenham. Now I’m living in Bristol, I’m still keen on trying everything Cheltenham has to offer. With this being a pop-up I knew my time was limited, however it wasn’t until the last weekend of their opening that I finally got to pay them a visit. I’ll add that I was quite persistent on social media, badgering the owner, Andrew Kojima about whether I could sample the whole menu at lunchtime.
And that’s exactly what we did.
The menu is Japanese inspired but not sushi, much to the relief of James – with a full range of dishes.
Everything was fresh, with wonderful flavours, each unique to their dish.
Once we’d had our fill, I had console myself that with it being a pop-up, Koj’s days were numbered. But since then I’ve heard the fantastic news that they are on Kickstarter, trying to raise funds to make Koj Cheltenham a permanent resident in the centre of town!
There are only a couple of days left and the team are so close to hitting their target, if you loved the food as much as I did – or didn’t get the chance to try it and feel like you’ve missed out, why not make a pledge. There are some great deals on offer in return – check it out.
