Olive shed

Not a shed full of olives or in fact a shed made of olives I’m sorry to report.

Not a great way to start a blog post with a huge statement of disappointment but fear not! The Olive Shed is in fact a wonderful place; situated on the Harbour with luscious views across the river and a long list of tapas dishes proving these guys know what they’re doing.

They also do serve olives.

If it wasn’t for the fact this country can’t seem to produce a full day of warm sunshine this year we would have made the most of the outdoor seating however the wintery winds convinced us we were better off inside with the central heating.

Tapas food as a dining experience makes the entire mood feel relaxed; picking away at different flavours and foods whilst casually catching up with friends or family.

Enjoying a bottle of wine with such a meal comes hand-in-hand.

We started with a selection of dishes including Roast Beets, Feta and Za’atar, White Bean and Kale Hummus with flatbread, Patatas Bravas, Smoked Chicken with Harissa and Lemon, Chorizo and Cannellini Bean Stew, and a selection of Cured Meats.

The highlight for me being the White Bean and Kale Hummus, that I need to have a go at making so I can have it back in my life. Constantly.

With the first round not being quite enough for our big appetites we order a second round of food including some Bread with Balsamic and Oil and the Cold Mezze.

We managed to leave just enough room for an indulgent pud. Some shared – some took them on alone.

Tipping us all over the edge and in need of a long walk around the Harbour.
