Swanky new menu at Wild Beer, Cheltenham
You may or may not remember a previous blog post about my visit to Wild Beer; I raved about their great tapas style dishes and unique tasting beers.
You may ask, so why the change? Well, I can confirm that the new menu is an impressive improvement on what was already a solid range of food.
In celebration of this, Wild Beer decided to have a party. We were invited in and given a couple of tokens for drinks, which could be used for their long list of beers, wines and their new cocktail menu.
They had several on offer and welcomed feedback and votes on what worked the best. My vote was on the Jessop Cosmo! Your regular cosmopolitan mix topped up with ginger beer.
Whilst a few of us explored the cocktail menu, we’d be stupid to not sample a few of their home grown beers. The salted caramel beer is still a winner for me but there were also some other surprises, including sour and fruity flavoured brews.
Before the food arrived, my sister and I went for a nose, eventually ending up in the restaurant in the basement. A cosy set up with a little wood burner, taking you away from the madness upstairs.
We returned to the rest of the gang, where the food was finally making an appearance. We sampled some chicken wings, deep fried pumpkin, battered fish, ribs, mini burgers and even a sweet treat in the shape of doughnuts.
The ribs were sticky and sweet, the chicken was juicy and full of flavour. The fish was enveloped in their beer batter with a creamy, garlicky dip. If these dishes were anything to go by, I’m very keen to return soon and try out the rest of the menu.
We stayed until late and enjoyed the talents of the one man band and a few more beverages before it was time to call it a night.
Great party and thank you for the invite Wild Beer, we’ll be seeing you again very soon!
